Bromford Housing
Overview
Bromford Housing, one of the biggest housing associations in the country, embarked on a digital transformation journey to modernise their IT infrastructure. This included the integration of various legacy systems into a single, unified platform. As part of this initiative, Bromford alongside its merger with two other housing associations, set out to migrate data from more than 400 systems into a new, centralised ERP system on Microsoft Dynamics 365.

The Problem
The move to a centralised and shared ERP was driven by the need to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance data quality. However, the migration process was complicated by a range of factors.
Bromford’s key challenges were:
Data Integration: Bromford and its merger partners were operating on around 400 different systems, many of which were outdated and inconsistent.
Data Quality: The legacy data was incomplete and incorrectly formatted, requiring standardisation and validation to meet the new system's strict data requirements.
Merging Organisations: The merger of three housing associations created additional complexity, as each organisation had its own internal processes and systems.
Data Enrichment: The new ERP system required additional data fields that were not present in the legacy systems.
The Solution
To address these challenges, our team implemented a comprehensive data migration strategy that focused on the following:
Sentinel Data Platform: Establihsed the platform as a tactical data management solution during the year-long phased go-live, to manage temporary data flows and controls
Data Staging and Cleansing: We established a data staging area where data from all 400 systems could be temporarily stored, cleansed, and prepared for migration
Data Enrichment: Missing data fields were added, and a portal was set up for Bromford to input information for previously uncollected business processes
Data Transformation: Data was transformed and standardised into the required format for the new system
Seamless Data Migration: Once the data was cleansed, enriched, and transformed, we facilitated the smooth migration of all records into the system with minimal disruption
